Term 2

Living Things

This term we are learning about 'Living Things'.

Recently we were lucky to have some special visitors from Andersons Creek Landcare come and speak to us about the importance of conserving our local environment and teach us about some of the living things that we can find in our local creek. Check the last page of the newsletter for their upcoming family day details. We are also looking forward to seeing lots of living things at our Wild Action Incursion that's coming up.

Literacy

In literacy this term, we are looking at reading and writing information texts. We are looking at the elements of information texts - title, contents page headings & subheadings, diagrams, index page and glossary.

Grade 2 students have been busy creating information texts in the form of a poster on an animal of their choice and we have been reading lots of non-fiction books in class.

Numeracy

Grade 1 and 2 students are currently learning addition and different strategies we can use to add two or more numbers. We are practising trusting the count, using the jump strategy and using the split strategy with lots of hands on activities and numeracy games to build our fluency.
