Principal's Report

This week I would really like to highlight the thriving school community we have and are continuing to grow here at ACPS. A strong school community not only enhances student engagement and connectedness but also supports academic achievement and the holistic development of our students. I believe strongly in the value of adults modelling positive behaviours, values and beliefs to our young people. I would like to thank our parent community this week for the way you enhance our school by modelling kindness, generosity and collaboration through your voluntary support at our school.

In the last week alone, we had families give their time on a chilly Sunday morning to come into school and join our working bee. We really value your support and generosity with your time and cannot thank you enough for helping us maintain the physical environment of our school. This week, we also had a dedicated contingent of parent volunteers organising and running our Mother’s Day stall to enable our students to purchase thoughtful gifts to help make their Mums special day. Apart from the physical gifts, I think the opportunity to instil in our students the value of thinking about others and giving thought to how we can make another person’s day or show our gratitude is invaluable.

I would also like to thank the Dad’s that were able to make it into school early this morning to run our Mother’s Day Breakfast. Staff at ACPS continually incorporate the development of values into each and every lesson, activity and conversation. To have our Dad’s here this morning giving their time and also modelling the importance of celebrating others really complements this work. A huge thank you to all our Mothers that were able to make it for the Breakfast. The giving of your time to support events like this reinforces their importance and makes them a huge success.

We wish you all a little sleep in, lazy breakfast in bed, pampering from your children and a very happy Mother’s Day.

Primary schools flourish on the generous contributions of our parents and we cannot thank you all enough for your continual support of our wonderful school. We also have a number of other community events coming up and encourage you to come a long if you can. Please see details below:

'Monster Island' Book Launch

Thanks to Eltham Bookshop, we are holding a Book Launch at ACPS!

George Ivanoff, the very successful children's author of the popular 'Choose Your Own Ending' series, is launching his new book 'Monster Island' on Sunday 4th June in the ACPS Performance Theatre.  Included in the presentation is a workshop with George, afternoon tea and a signed copy of his new book. This is a first-time event for ACPS and a very exciting opportunity for us all.
