Foundation Day
Annual Foundation Day Church Service
Friday 12th May, 5.45 pm – 7.00 pm
Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bendigo
We are delighted to confirm that the annual reflection and acknowledgement of our Girton Grammar founders will proceed in person at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Friday 12th May, commencing at 5.45 pm sharp. Please note, this year we are celebrating our 30th Anniversary, hence the earlier start time.
Student Attendance
This is a compulsory event for all students in Years 3 to 12, who should be immaculately presented in full winter uniform, including blazers for students in Years 6 to 12. Students should arrive by 5.15 pm so they are seated in their designated area before 5.45 pm and students who are performing in musical ensembles are required to arrive at the Cathedral by 5.10 pm. If exceptional circumstances mean your child cannot attend, please seek an exemption in writing from the Principal by emailing principal@girton.vic.edu.au.
Parent and Carer Attendance
The cathedral has new seating limits to meet general safety obligations for its various congregations. Unfortunately, this means the cathedral can no longer accommodate as many guests as previously. We will, therefore, be offering Foundation Day Church Service attendance to Girton families via a free ticketing system. Note: Girton students have been accommodated and do not require a ticket.
We have very limited tickets available to parents and carers, which can be obtained via the following link: https://www.trybooking.com/CGQNV. Tickets will be available from 9am on Monday the 24th of April 2023.
Alternatively, the Foundation Day Church Service will be live-streamed and can be viewed using the following link: https://youtube.com/live/4t7BpqAZfJs?feature=share.
We look forward to welcoming all students and several parents and carers to this important school event. Our Foundation Day Church Service is always a wonderful event in a magnificent setting where collective gratitude for the hard work of our school founders, and those who have built on their legacy, is fittingly celebrated.
