Deputy Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers

What a great day we had yesterday with our school Cross-Country event. It was so heartwarming to see the students supporting and cheering each other on. Running doesn't come easily to all students and for some, a cross-country event is very much outside of their comfort zone.  Those students that weren't among the initial place-getters should be so proud of themselves just for persevering and finishing. Stepping out of our comfort zone and participating in events that challenge us is a great way to develop resilience and become mentally strong.

Positive Coping

As we start a new term, we move on to the third module of our Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relations program: Positive Coping

As they grow and develop, all children will encounter situations where they feel worried, nervous, and sometimes even scared. Individuals deal with the demands of them by drawing on a range of coping strategies. Some strategies are more productive than others. Helping students learn a range of positive coping skills will allow them to develop and practise these skills and enable them to cope with future changes and challenges.

Over the next few weeks, students will discuss and learn strategies for positive coping through their weekly SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) sessions.

The Resilience Project Partnership Program

Did you know that the Resilience Project has its own area specifically for Parents and Carers?  The Hub contains a series of videos designed to educate parents about the program.  The videos are 5-10 minutes long and will walk through the key pillars of resilience: Gratitude, Empathy & Mindfulness.   This program is an important part of our school’s effort to look after the mental health of our community.
