End of Term 2
Welcome to Term 2
We are excited to welcome all students and families to Term 2 of Junior School in 2023. We continue to be excited about the growth and learning that Junior School students are displaying.
Attendance – Everyday Counts
We ask all parents to continue to support their child to attend every day they can. Regular attendance at school supports not only academic success but also improves mental health and wellbeing. If your child is very sick with the flu or a virus then please keep them at home and help them access the work required on Compass when they feel up to it.
The College will continue to support students and families to maximise their attendance. You may receive communication from us during this term. If you have concerns about your child’s attendance please do not hesitate to email or call to discuss.
Safe Supportive and Inclusive Environment
At the end of last term, Junior School students were invited to complete a survey that provided information to Junior School about inappropriate, disruptive or bullying behaviour in class, the yard or on social media. Junior School staff use this information to plan interventions of support and education to build students' Personal and Social Capabilities. If your student missed out on this survey or would like to report further inappropriate, disruptive or bullying behaviour, the survey can be accessed by clicking on ‘Reporting Bullying’ on our school website under Quick Links:
Please note that students will need to be logged into their school office account to access the survey.
Building Personal and Social Capabilities
We invite parents/carers to regularly check in and support their child to use their social and emotional skills to navigate the challenges of secondary school. One way to engage in these ‘check in’s’ is to discuss Discovery. Discovery has a key focus of supporting students to reflect and enhance their self-awareness and management skills as well as their social awareness and management skills. Discovery is about building capacity to interact with others respectfully and inclusively.

UR Retreat
Female-identifying students have the opportunity to attend a camp in the September school holiday break, run by Bridge Builders Youth organisation.
If you are 13-15 years, like to meet new people, challenge yourself and learn some new skills then you may be interested in the Bridge Builders Camp.
We have had students from DSC attend in the past and they have found it to be a great opportunity for growing and developing personal and social capabilities.
