Jump Rope for Heart has kicked off at Aitken Hill Primary School!

Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation’s primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun and raise funds for lifesaving research and programs.

This year we’ve got a massive goal to see our student Heart Heroes at AHPS to log 20 hours of skipping throughout the program! Register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents

Students will be skipping in PE lessons, in class and during recess and lunch times. During this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause. You may even like to share it on your personal social media pages!

We will hold our school Jump Off Day during our Week 9 assembly (last week of term), this will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills.

Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!

District Cross Country

On May 12th, we had 48 students travel to Brimbank Park in Keilor East to compete at the District Cross Country Championship! All students represented the school magnificently and we came away with some amazing results.

Students who finished in the top 10 in their age group, will be heading to the Woodland's Division Championship on the 30th of May at Kilmore Racing Club. We had six amazing athletes from Aitken Hill progress and we wish them all the best of luck on Tuesday!

District Gala Day

Our teams have been picked for our upcoming District Gala Day and the students couldn't be more excited! We are very lucky to be hosting the Netball Competition at our school and can't wait for the other schools to see our amazing facilities.

3/4 Swimming Incursion

This week, our 3/4 students were very lucky to have Life Saving Victoria visit our school to teach them some valuable lessons about water safety. It is extremely important for students to be educated on this topic as in Australia, we are surrounded by water!

The grade 5/6 students will be participating in their annual swimming program in Term 4.

Prep Physical Education: T2

This term in PE, our prep students have been focusing on throwing and catching. They have been introduced to rotational activities where they have had the opportunity to try out different skills, use different equipment and work with different students every session.

1/2 Physical Education: T2

This term in PE, our 1/2 students have been focusing on the Vertical Jump. They have also been trying out a lot of skipping challenges to increase their Jump Rope for Heart hours! Like the prep students, they have been doing rotational activities to ensure they are targeting as many Fundamental Motor Skills (FMS) as possible.

3/4 Physical Education: T2

This term in PE, our 3/4 students have been learning about a new sport - European Handball. They have been focusing on teamwork, communication and combining FMS together to create fluid movement sequences during gameplay. They were also introduced to Cricket so that they could improve their striking and fielding skills. Finally, students will be competing in Athletics trials in the next few weeks to find our District Athletics team!

5/6 Physical Education: T2

Like our 3/4 students, the 5/6's have been learning about European Handball. Their focus has been on successfully competing in both offence and defence positions and using communication and leadership skills to modify their own games as required. The 5/6 students will also be competing in Athletics trials in the next few weeks to find our District Athletics team! Students will be responsible for timing and measuring certain events, as well as recording results.
