Chess Co-curricular

Biscuits and chess pieces exchanged is a tell-tale sign of a successful Friday afternoon of chess. Most recently BMGS hosted the Senior Wollemi and Intermediate Penrith Anglican teams, both of whom boasted impressive and deep chess ability.

The Wollemi Seniors run out overall victors, taking boards 2,3 and 4, with BMGS fighting back with a win on board 1 for a 3-1 score line. The Intermediate team were more successful, taking home a 3-1win against a valiant Penrith Anglican team.

The competitive chess fever didn't falter over the weekend, as a wave of players gathered in A1 Tuesday lunchtime to take part in the early stages of a Chess tournament for Charity. A packed classroom filled with spirit and support raised funds in the neighbourhood of $50, all of which will be donated to the local Wentworth Falls Anglican Church’s Op-shop and food bank for the less fortunate Blue Mountains community. The already momentous support is staggering with each donation greatly appreciated, and we encourage everyone to give it a go!
