Football
Last week saw our keen Year 9 and 10 male footballers take to Pedrina Park in the annual GD Football round robin competition.
The young footballers took to the ground first up against Baimbridge College. The team was switched on and came out firing, dominating the clearances and converting up forward to have five goals at halftime. A strong second half resulted in a ten goal win. Goal kickers included Jude Alexander, Henry Russell, Bailey Clarke, Jude Hockley, Ted Hunter, Alex Hill and Finn Dennis.
Next up we faced Portland Secondary College. Despite wasting opportunities early and having to overcome some injuries to key players, the boys came home with the win by 1pt. Our only goal kickers were Bailey Clarke and Angus Rowe.
Our last game was against the old rival, Monivae College, and the winner of this would be crowned champions on the day. Basically, it was seen as a grand final for the boys. Although undefeated until this game, we were not able to match their physical size and outstanding team play. No goals were kicked by College.
Overall, our boys learnt a lot from the three games, enjoyed the opportunity to play together and represent the school and came second place. The best player of the day was awarded to our Captain Jock Nicholls. Oscar Hausler, Ted Hunter, Aiden Credlin, Finn Dennis, Bailey Clarke, Sam Tonissen and Harry Dorahy were other consistent performers.

WOMENS HOCKEY
Our A Grade team have had an impressive start to the season, undefeated after four rounds. This is a very young and exciting team who will only continue to improve. The team is being led brilliantly by Captain Sarah Andersen. On Thursday night the team defeated Coleraine 4-2 with Sophie Merrin, Arbella Little and Daisy Henry amongst the goal scorers.
It has been a rather interrupted beginning to the season for our B Grade women with byes, and forfeits creating a frustrating first few rounds. Abbie Henderson has been a great addition to this side. The experience of Ali Churchill and Abbie Cameron has been important and with the formidable Spence family all playing, we can look forward to a successful second half of the season.
