Over the past few weeks, our community has faced some major tragedies that have deeply impacted us all. During times like these, it becomes even more crucial for us to come together as a supportive community and extend a helping hand to those in need.

Grief is a natural response to loss, and it affects each person differently. It is important that we are all aware of the signs of grief, not only in ourselves but also in our children, friends, and neighbours. By recognising these signs, we can create a compassionate and understanding environment where healing can begin.

Here are some signs of grief to look out for:

  1. Emotional Changes: Grief often brings about a wide range of emotions such as sadness, anger, guilt, or even numbness. It is normal for individuals to experience mood swings and heightened sensitivity during this time.

  2. Physical Symptoms: Grief can manifest physically in various ways, including changes in appetite, difficulty sleeping, headaches, or fatigue. These symptoms may be indicative of the emotional strain individuals are experiencing.

  3. Behavioural Changes: Individuals may exhibit changes in their behaviour, such as social withdrawal, decreased interest in activities, or difficulties with concentration and memory. It is important to offer support and understanding during these times of adjustment.

  4. Communication Patterns: Grieving individuals may find it challenging to express their emotions verbally. They might withdraw from conversations or avoid discussing the loss altogether. Encouraging open and honest communication can help foster a safe space for sharing feelings.

Remember, healing takes time, and it is a personal journey for everyone. Let us be patient, kind, and understanding as we navigate through this challenging period together.

Our students have also been encouraged to connect with online resources.

We are committed to supporting you and your family during this time. Our school counsellor and staff are available for any assistance you may need. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you require support or have any questions.
