From the Principal

The school sends its deepest sympathies and prayers to the families of those killed in last weekend’s horrific car accident. The death of a young person in any way is a waste and a tragedy, but the deaths of four people including three local students surmounts what could have been imagined. We have sent our condolences and offers of support to our colleagues and friends at both Baimbridge College and Monivae College.

Supports for students and families are available at our school, but also in the community. Please refer to my note from Tuesday this week for the details. If you feel that your child would benefit from counselling or other support please contact their classroom teacher for Junior School, or their Mentor in the Senior School.

National Reconciliation Week

This week is National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This year’s theme is ‘Be a Voice for Generations’, which encourages us to learn from and give voice to the experiences of previous generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

We acknowledge that we live and learn on the traditional lands of the Gunditjmara, lands that have been respected and knowledgably stewarded for thousands of years. As we look to ways in which our school can further its work towards reconciliation, I encourage you to explore the great resources available at Reconciliation Australia
