Wellbeing & Learning Diversity

Dear St. Stephen’s and St. Gabriel’s families, 

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with the Dogs Connect Program and will be introducing Billie, our wellbeing dog into our school community. Thank you for completing the considerations form to support Billie's introduction.

In her first few days in our community, Billie will spend short periods of time in hubs and on the yard. This period is to allow Billie to settle in and become comfortable in the environment. This will also provide time for the children to become familiar with Billie being in the space as they continue with their learning. After this familiarisation period, when both Billie and the children are comfortable, Billie's role will expand further to support children's wellbeing and connection both in the classroom and playground. 

Billie has participated in socialisation and early training through Thornbury Vet Puppy School. A team of staff who are leading this program are also currently undergoing training through the company Dogs Connect, more information about this program can be found at https://dogsconnect.net.au
