Principal's News

Mrs Gabrielle Espenschied

Dear Parents,

Last week was a wonderful week of learning at St Mary’s as we celebrated Education Week 2023. With a theme of Move, Make and Motivate, children across all year levels were engaged in activities where this theme was evident.

Congratulations to the students who ran in the District Cross Country last Thursday. Our students were wonderful, showing grit and determination in all races.  All students from Prep to Year 6 participated in our house cross country.  We then provide students with further Distric opportunities to shine with many wide and varied learning opportunities where they can set goals and strive for excellence in the area of their strength. We congratulate all students who represented our school in the District event and congratulate Gus who will now go on to represent our school in the next level of competition.

Thank you to all our families who attended the Walk to School Day last Friday. It sounded like a wonderful walk with many families in attendance to celebrate Education Week.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the event due to a Principal Forum and Principal Network where we spent time looking at the new MACS 2030 strategy and the new teacher agreement.

The MACS 2030 strategy is focused on achieving excellence in performance by ensuring all systems are in place. This is very much in line with our priorities coming out of review and I look forward to ensuring our school is a place of excellent growth for every student in our school.

We congratulate Rachel, Kristina, Mason, Jack and Emily, who continue to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation to be held on Sunday June 4th at 10.00am. This Wednesday afternoon, the students will visit the St Vincent de Paul store to witness others being of service to others.

We have a number of infections at the moment including COVID, the flu and gastro. We ask that if your child is the slightest bit unwell, please keep them home to ensure we are stopping the spread of these illnesses in our community.

If your child is away on any day, please ring the office on 59791959 by 8.30am and leave a message on the absentee line explaining the reason for their absence.

Finally, we have our upcoming opening of the Community Garden on Wednesday June 7th from 2-4pm. Please save the date and invite all your family and friends to this special event.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab Espenschied
