Performing arts

Lots of exciting events are coming up in performing arts this term! On the 5th of June we have the year 10 performance evening, a chance for Year 10 students to showcase the arts they have been working on this semester. There will be drama performances, singing, music dancing and more, all done by MGC students, in our new theatre.

We also have the Year 9 performance evening coming up on the 7th of June. The Actor’s Workshop class will be performing group adaptations of the day in the life of a teenager and the students participating in dance or music electives will also be presenting their hard work from the semester.

The year 7 performance classes have been busy putting on their whole class performances at lunchtimes this week. Each class has put together a 10-minute play, on the theme ‘The Decades’, all run by the students themselves.

We also have the vocal showcase on the 2nd of June. Vocal students, MGC choir and A’Capella choir will get an opportunity to sing in our new theatre, the first vocal showcase in 2 years! The entry is free, so anyone can feel free to come along and support our singers!

The year 7 and 8 student drama club, run by our very own drama captains, has been meeting every Friday in the Drama room. They have been working hard to put on a play at the end of the semester on the theme ‘Families through the Decades’.

MGC Orchestra has been meeting every Wednesday morning to play, rehearse and jam! Recently, they have been working on ‘Africa’ by Toto with the MGC Choir, the Peter Gunn theme, Game of Thrones theme and more. Their hard work will be presented at a concert on June 19th, along with MGC Choir, A’Capella choir and other music performances.
