Calrossy Junior School

Term 2 Week 8

As we approach the end of another term, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude

for the parents and carers in our school. For your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. The sheer number of things on this term and the commitment from

parents never ceases to amaze me. As we learn, grow and serve in partnership with our

families, I am thankful that we can share this journey together.

As we have looked at wisdom this past fortnight, Proverbs 22:6 is very relevant. Train up a

child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Let’s continue

this journey together.

With the holidays just around the corner, I encourage you to prioritize rest and relaxation

for your children. It's important for them to have some downtime and recharge their

batteries before the start of a new term. Here are a few tips to ensure a restful break:

1. Establish Balance: Balance between sleep, screen time, friend time, family time and

leisure activities. Don’t let one outweigh the other and dominate your time, which

may lead to disinterest or disappointment in the long run.

2. Limit Screen Time: Screens can be enticing, but excessive screen time can interfere

with rest and relaxation. Encourage your child to engage in activities that stimulate

their imagination, such as reading books, playing board games, or spending time

outdoors.

3. Embrace Nature: Nature has a remarkable ability to rejuvenate the mind and body.

Encourage your child to spend time outdoors, whether it's taking a walk up Flagstaff,

riding along the river, or simply playing in the park – the Viaduct Park will open soon!

Fresh air and sunshine can do wonders for wellbeing.

4. Foster Playful Learning: Learning doesn't have to stop during the holidays. Encourage

your child to engage in playful learning activities that are both fun and educational.

Visit museums, national parks, do science experiments, or embark on creative art

projects together.

Make this holiday break one for refreshment – we start with a bang in Term 3, with the

Musical on Thursday 27th July, which involves the whole Junior School. I can’t wait and look forward to sharing the two wonderful performances with you! Tickets are on sale now, via Qkr!

Term 3 Commences on Monday 17th July.

Have a wonderful week and a refreshing holiday break.
