Trade Readiness Program

The Trade Readiness Program is a three day program which Calrossy students were involved with last week. The program was held at the Tamworth Jockey Club in partnership with various other organisations targeting youth employment and skills.

Fifteen Calrossy students attended from Year 9 and 10 to give them a taste of various trades they may be interested in pursuing, or beginning while still at school.

 The Trade Taster training included;

  •  Trade skills – bricklaying, carpentry and finishing off with the creation of a picnic table.
  • The courses will see students learning about safe work practices, handling of tools, and completing an agreed small project (picnic table).
  • All necessary materials, tools, safety equipment will be provided by Innovative Training Employment Careers ITeC (RTO).
  • Students that complete the course will receive a successful participation certificate for their portfolios.
  • No cost to students or school, covered by the NSW Government Training Services NSW and the Regional Industry Education Partnership Officer based in Tamworth, Karly Brogan.

Programs such as this form a crucial part of the Calrossy Careers Program that aims to provide all students with pathways and support towards future careers.
