Year 3/4
34N
In Reading and Topic this term we have been exploring Ancient Rome. So far, we have explored where Rome is, Romulus and Remus, Roman Gods and Goddesses, The Roman Republic, The Punic Wars and the rise and fall of Julius Caesar. Last week, students made campaign posters for Julius Caesar. The students had to imagine that they were helping Caesar run for the job of consul.
In Writing, students have been working on their own Information Reports. They have truly taken on the writing process from planning, collecting information, drafting and finally publishing their pieces of work. We have had a variety of topics such as ‘The Richmond Football Club’ and ‘Guinea Pigs’.
In Mathematics, students have been focusing on multiplication and different ways you could solve an equation. We are now moving on to fractions.
Important Information:
We are still looking for more volunteers to attend cooking and gardening sessions. All you need is a current working with children’s check. Also, you do not need to belong to 3/4N or T.
If you have any questions, please feel free to come see me, send me a message on compass or ring the school.

It has been a very busy few weeks in the 3/4 classrooms. We have continued learning about Ancient Rome and the students created campaign posters for Julius Caesar. We learnt about Cleopatra and her impact on the Roman Empire. In Maths, we have been learning about fractions and the different ways to represent them.
One of the highlights over the last couple of weeks was definitely swimming. The students enjoyed the different activities and getting into the pool for the Friday Fun Day is always a highlight.
We have been experimenting in the kitchen as part of the SAKG program and the students have tried some foods that they might not normally try at home including a lot of different vegetables. We have also been tidying up the yard and planting things in the veggie garden.
Thank you to all of the parent helpers that have put up their hand to assist with either gardening or cooking. It is a great help and the program wouldn’t be able to run without you.
