Physical Education

Wow, what a term it has been! If there is ever a time in the year when we are totally about sport, it’s definitely term 2. Things started early with the Hanging Rock Cross Country happening on the first Thursday of the term. Of course, the weather decided to turn on us and it was freezing, wet and windy but it was no surprise that the day was still a success and that the Lancefield Primary School competitors were positive and ready to give it their all.  We had 3 students successfully progress to the next event in Castlemaine and we now have 2 runners moving on to St Arnaud’s next Tuesday… A massive, good luck to Finley Emmerson and Teddy Williams.

Next up, in week 3, was the Grade 3-6 Athletics Day.  Can you believe that we had blue skies and zero rain! As always, the student shad an absolute blast and the amount of encouragement and support for each other was outstanding. I honestly have never been at a school where so many kids compete with such enthusiasm and so much support for others… it makes me so proud to be at this school. We now have to wait until August for the COBAW Athletics in Bendigo, so we’ll make sure to get some lunch time training in for those competing.

But wait, there is definitely more…… last week we took a team of footballers (we had the most girls playing…just saying!) and a team of netballers to the COBAW Winter Sports day in Romsey. Both teams had a taste of winning but mainly proved again that we are there to positively represent our school and have fun. That’s it, it really is as simple as that and again I was so proud of the efforts of all involved.

Just a quick thank you to all the parent volunteers who have put their hands up to help over the term. It's always appreciated and makes these events run so much more smoothly.  Thank you!

So, as I sit here and get my breath and reflect over the term, it really has been so great, and many memories have been made that will stay with the kids for years to come.

Oh, I nearly forgot… for the next two Thursdays, we have AFL Victoria coming in to run some clinics with all year levels. Fingers crossed the weather is great because 63 Grade 1-2s in the gym sounds quite frightening!

Thanks everyone!
