Dear parents, students and families,

This weekend our students intending to receive their First Eucharist or Reconciliation are again invited to attend any of the Parish Masses.

In staffing news, sadly, Mrs Lauren Lacey has commenced leave and will not be returning to her class. Mrs Dorinnia Burns has been appointed and will commence this position from Tuesday 13th June working Monday-Thursday of each week. Mr Michael Sullivan will teach the class each Friday. Please make Mrs Burns welcome as she joins our community.

Our year 3-6 students conclude their swimming week at PARC tomorrow. It is a busy week remembering to have a fresh towel and togs each day so thanks to parents for their support of this. Each afternoon the students have looked more tired so it certainly does wear many of them out.

We are coming to the end of National Reconciliation Week and Miss O'Donnell lead a beautiful Liturgy on Tuesday celebrating this. Well done to all involved as we seek to raise awareness of the many facets of what it is to be Australian, with a focus on our first nations people.

Some of our students had the chance to test themselves against the best cross country runners on the Peninsula at Hastings on Wednesday. Congratulations on your achievements no matter where you finished and thank you to the parents who made this possible.

Wednesday evening our students and families met in the Church to begin the students preparations for receiving their First Reconciliation. We wish them all the best and thank our staff who attended in support of our students, and those of the wider parish, as they prepare for this Sacrament.

Next Monday we have a visit from the Didjeribone company for the students which will enhance their understanding of Aboriginal culture.

Next Friday 9th June is a school closure day where the staff will be focusing on our Wellbeing programs for the students. Moira has said that she will be open 'Happy Kids Out of School Care' for those who require care on the day. Thank you for making alternative arrangements for the day to allow the staff this valuable learning time together. This will lead into the long weekend for our first King's Birthday on Monday 12th June.

School Attendance and Unexplained Absence

Please contact the school if your child is going to be absent by leaving a message on 9786 4736 and press 1. Please give details of your child’s name and class with a reason for their absence such as: unwell, appointment, holiday or family reasons. Alternatively an email can be sent to office@saseaford.catholic.edu.au with cc to the child’s teacher.

If you are running late, (after 9:00 am) please attend the office to sign your child into school and collect a late pass.

If you are picking up your child early you will need to collect them and sign them out from the office.

As per our policy this will be our morning routine for absences:

Parents will be contacted as soon as practicable on the morning a student is absent via a text message.

If parent does not contact the school after receiving the text message, the school will contact the parent by phone. If the parent is unreachable the emergency contacts will be contacted by the school.

If there is still no response, and the school feels that the child is in danger, the police will be contacted.

Ongoing unexplained absences or lack of cooperation regarding student attendance will result in a formal conference being organized. Unresolved attendance issues will be referred to D.H.H.S.

This is a legal requirement.
