World Environment Day: BYO is the GO!

June 5th is World Environment Day and this year's theme is Beat Plastic Pollution!

"While plastic has many valuable uses, we have become addicted to single-use plastic products — with severe environmental, social, economic and health consequences." - UN Environment Programme

So what are we doing? Our canteen team has been working on reducing plastic waste. We want to continue to reduce landfill and even recycling by encouraging everyone to BYO - Bring Your Own!

We have been enjoying nice cups of Milo this term in the canteen. Remember to BYO mug. So what can you BYO to reduce waste?

  • BYO mug for Milo - bring it to the canteen when you purchase your Milo
  • BYO cutlery for hot meals - select the option on Flexischools and just BYO to your own classroom

Green Team meetings are on Tuesday lunch times in 5B's classrom - everyone is welcome to join us!

First Honey Harvest!

We harvested our first 15kg of honey with the help of Henry from Backyard Honey at the end of last term and we have been enjoying the honey in our kitchen classes. The Year 5s helped bottle up the honey. 6C also used the honey for the cupcake fundraiser honey joys - yum yum! The taste of our school's honey is so declious and flavoursome!

Welcome New Chooks!

Hooray! We have had some new chooks join our kitchen garden again. It's so nice to have them part of the program. It's been so lovely to say hi to them and look after them again in the garden.
