Always was, always will be

Acknowledgement of Country

Our official student acknowledgement with accompanying hand gestures that we have been sharing at assembly:

Here is the land,

Here is the sky,

Here are my friends,

Here am I.

Today I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country, the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung People of the Kulin Nation, past and present;

on whose Land we learn, sing and play.

The staff have also been learning this too, thanks to Stuart Jones. Thank you to 2A and Ella Tregaskis for sharing it at assembly.

National Sorry Day

26th May is National Sorry Day, a day of reflection and unity as we acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations survivors and share in the healing process. As a school, we shared a one minute silence as a sign of rememberance and respect.

Reconciliation Week

Join in the Reconciliation actions and broadcasts your own reconciliation messages to the world with a sea of megaphones. We will be sharing our messages. Download your own, share a message and drop it off at school to add to our community reconciliation messages!

We have been busy and hope that you've seen our posters for the Books n Boots collection too!

Reconciliation Morning Tea

It was a lovely morning tea shared with Koorie Engagement Support Officers (KESO) Kira Peters, Mark Lumley and our Wayapa facilitator Alana Marsh. Staff brought in some food including sharing some food from our cultures.

Alana Marsh mindful movement of Wayapa

During our Professional Practice Day on Tuesday all the staff were privileged to join Alana Marsh in a mindful movement of Wayapa.

The Practice of Wayap draws on Aboriginal knowledge of connection to country, earth mindfulness and narrative meditation to teach participants the importance of connecting into the earth and nature for holistic wellness.

Personally, I enjoyed the experience very much and particularly loved that as well as promoting mental wellbeing, we were also reminded of our responsibilities to care for the planet and respect all living beings.

Thank you so much, Alana, for sharing your incredible knowledge of connection to country. You lead us in a session which helped with reducing the busyness in our minds, and lives, so we can be still in nature, and at peace within ourselves.

Thank you, Emily Hui for introducing us to Alana and organising the wonderful session for us.
