Before and after school supervision parent notification:

Student safety at Elisabeth Murdoch College is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

Before school: The Elisabeth Murdoch College Bus Bay is supervised from 8am each day.

After school: The Elisabeth Murdoch College Bus Bay is supervised from 3pm to 3:50pm each day.

Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a supervised extracurricular activity).

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice).

Families are encouraged to contact Elisabeth Murdoch College on 9788 2600 or email Elisabeth.murdoch.co@education.vic.gov.au if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.

For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy please contact the College’s Administration office.

CSEF (Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund)

School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership.  All are a part of a healthy curriculum. CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities. If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF.

A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The annual CSEF amount per student is: $225 for secondary school students.

For more information please read the attached brochure:

Child safety and wellbeing at Elisabeth Murdoch College: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Elisabeth Murdoch College has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on the College website at:https://www.emc.vic.edu.au/elisabeth-murdoch-college-parents-information/policies.html

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact Assistant Principal Terry Kiat on 9788 2600 or elisabeth.murdoch.co@education.vic.gov.au.

Student Insurance

Parents need to be aware that the school and the Department of Education do not carry insurance against student injury/accident or personal property.

A number of private companies offer such insurance to individual families at very reasonable rates.

The Department has asked that the following statement be made available to parents:

"Parents/carers of students, who do not have student accident insurance, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs; and

Parents/carers can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers.

The Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property, students should be discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school."

Traffic Management

Reducing traffic congestion

Please consider the following safe options:

  • Collect your child at the Church on the corner of North rd. and Warrandyte Road.
  • Collect your child from the Langwarrin Hall on the corner of Warrandyte Rod and Cranbourne-Frankston rd  ensuring they cross that road following the crossing supervisors instructions.
  • Suggest your child to walks or rides to school if you live a close distance to the College
  • Utilise the local bus services- please see our College website page for the bus timetable:

Do not drop off children in the left turning lane that enters into the College - this is also a Bus bay- it is NOT a drop off zone.

Boom Gates:

As part of our traffic management plan the electronic and secured boom gates are activated at the entrance of the bus bay entry and exit of the College grounds.

The boom gates are operational

These boom gates can only be accessed by staff with a secure pass.

Langwarrin Community Centre have raised their concerns about parents/carers that are using their car park as a pick up point in the afternoon. Langwarrin Community Centrewould like to respectfully request that EMC parents find an alternate place to collect their children. Do not use their car park as a pick up point in the afternoons:

The centre has a learning program that finishes at 3.00 pm and parents are unable to get a carpark to collect their children on time. It is very dangerous as all of these children are under 5 and could potentially run out into the car park.
