Science

The Years 4-6 science class this week were investigating gases (particularly air) and what effect a change of temperature has on it. Because gases are invisible, it helps to use balloons to demonstrate the change. We immersed empty bottles with balloons attached into buckets of hot or cold water. We discovered that when immersed in hot water, the air inside the bottle expands and rises, inflating the balloon.

We also tested whether air weighs anything…ask your child how we tested this and you might be surprised at our results.
