Parent Payments 2020

After an incredibly hard year for our community as a result of COVID-19, we wanted to let you know about our plans for managing parent payments which have been made to the college in 2020.

As you know our plans for the school year were changed dramatically, and while our core curriculum was able to be delivered via remote learning, there were several activities which could not be undertaken due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but which had been included in the 2020 parent payments.

Glen Eira College School Council has approved the returning of a portion of the parent payments that were paid for 2020. For those families who paid their 2020 parent payments in full (or who were part of our payment plan scheme), a credit will be applied to your account and applied against 2021 fees, therefore reducing the amount that is required to be paid for 2021 fees.

While the exact credit amount is still being calculated, it does include items such as:

  • Subjects where consumables have not been consumed such as Art, VCD, Food Technology and Materials Technology
  • Incursions that were listed but have not eventuated
  • A portion of the sports levy (noting that swimming and Term 1 interschool sports were held, and we incurred affiliation fees)

For those families leaving our school, you can apply for a refund in writing providing your bank details; we will endeavour to process these as quickly as possible.

Please contact Gabrielle Darvell on 9571 7838 or via email on gabrielle.darvell@education.vic.gov.au if you have any questions regarding the credit process.

2020 Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst all parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, student engagement and experiences of remote and flexible learning. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous.

NOTE: Only one parent from your family is invited to complete the survey. The individualised link has been emailed to families.

This year, the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 12th October to Friday 13th November.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes  20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey is available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

Thank you for taking the time to participate, your assistance is greatly appreciated.
