Student Library Leaders

Congratulations to our Student Library Leaders for 2020.

Year 9   Ben

               Thomas

Year 8   Oscar

Year 7   Que

Sadly, we have been unable to present these dedicated literary students with their badges or take a photo. I had hoped to be able to present our Student Library Leaders to Mr Pooley during a School Assembly in Term 2. Interested students underwent a formal application and interview process and these four were our successful candidates. Due to remote learning their commitment to Library promotion and collection development is now occurring in different ways.

Newspapers

Remember to check out the library link to your “one stop shop” for information resources.

Our subscriptions to the digital newspapers live here – The Age, The Financial Review and The Sydney Morning Herald.

Public Libraries Remote Access

All members of the St James community are encouraged to take up an online public library membership at this time of remote learning – access to eBooks and Audio Books are just some of the opportunities for online public library members. The link to Glen Eira Libraries is on our website.

Reserved Books

As I am not at school during the Stage 4 Lockdown I am unable to process the reserved books. This service will resume once we all physically return to school. Books on Loan Students can keep reading their books and should not worry about the due dates. Books can be returned to the library once we physically return to school.

Book Suggestions

Students are welcome to continue to email library@sjcbe.catholic.edu.au with their book suggestions. These ideas will be considered for additional books to add to our library collection.

Global Issues

Year 7 English students have been researching a range of global issues and this was the focus of the Library English classes. Students were presented with a variety of useful websites and information to assist their research.

Library Website

During this time of remote learning our library website is evolving and increasing the range of resources. Thanks to Mr Damon Eilers, IT and Library Technician for integrating and improving access for all. Book trailers and Newspapers are some of the new features available.

Research Assistance

Mrs Jane Viner is our part time Teacher Librarian – Monday, Tuesday and Thursday who is dedicated to assisting students and staff with their research. Contact Mrs Viner via email for assistance. jviner@sjcbe.catholic.edu.au
