From the Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians
Welcome to Term 4!!!!! I trust everyone enjoyed the holiday period. It is a great feeling knowing that this is the last week of remote learning for all our students. The staff are waiting with great excitement to welcome all the children back onsite next Monday 12th October. The return to school will be a big adjustment for many children. It has been a while since they have walked through the school gates. Like adults, who return to work after a period of time away, there will be some nerves involved for the children. The staff are very conscious of this and will adopt activities that reintroduce the children to the learning rigour and social component of school life. The needs of your child are of the highest priority for staff and all support measures will be put into place for them to feel safe and secure in the learning environment of a school classroom.
Yesterday I sent out a letter explaining the COVID safe procedures for the children as they return to school. I ask that you take the opportunity to read the letter. It is very similar to what was in place in second term
Uniform
Children are expected to wear their summer uniform when they return to school next week. I understand some children may have grown out of their uniform or school shoes and that families may have difficulty accessing items due to shopping restrictions. I ask that if your child is 'out of uniform' a note is sent to their teacher outlining the reason and when you expect them to be in full uniform .
Temperature checks
It is no longer a government requirement that we temperature check the students and staff. If your child feels unwell in the morning please ensure they stay home. This is also an expectation of all staff.
2021 Classes/Educational request
The staff place a significant amount of time and consideration in your child’s class placement each year. The academic, social and emotional needs of all the children are taken into consideration.
I am very grateful that our community has trust in the staff and the decisions we make for your child’s class placement. In exceptional circumstances we understand that sometimes families may need to make an educational request for their child. If you have an educational request for your child's placement next year you will need to place it in writing either via email bgrace@sbedesbn.catholic.edu.au
or as a written letter addressed to me by Monday the 19th October. Only educational requests placed in writing and received by this date will be considered. Please note they are only requests. They will be considered but it does not mean it will occur.
Dates for your calendar.
Friday 23rd October: AFL Public Holiday in Victoria (no school for students or staff)
Monday 2nd November: Report Writing (no school for students)
Tuesday 3rd November: Melbourne Cup Public Holiday (no school for students or staff)
Upcoming Marriage
As many people in our community are aware Mr James Carbines is planning on marrying his beautiful fiancee Alison later this year. Their official date has not yet been decided due to COVID. James has kindly allowed me to share the following information with you.
Traffic
Please be aware that there are water works currently taking place in Marwal Avenue. The works are expected to continue next week. This will limit the parking available. Please take this into consideration to ensure you arrive at school on time.
Arrival at School
If you child arrives at school before 8.40am they are to put their bag inside and than make their way out to the playground and play. Once they hear the first bell they can then make their way back to their classroom.
Looking forward to see all the students next week
Take care
Brian
