Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians

As our State COVID19 numbers seem to be declining, and the possibility of schools reopening becomes more feasible, it is important to ensure that we continue to do as requested.

The media has lately highlighted up and coming protests, ostensibly to ensure that individuals have the freedom to do as they choose.  It is understandable that many people may feel this way, however, I urge you to continue to be patient and be respectful of all that we have endured and accomplished over the past months.  There would be nothing worse than if, due to our impatience, a third wave of this pandemic ensued.

Again – and I know that I speak for all our staff – we cannot wait until the new ‘normal’ is introduced with the recommencement of face-to-face schooling.  In the coming days, we should learn more about measures that need to be put into place to ensure that the VCE students will each be judged on their own personalised learning plan and the impact of the 2020 COVID-19 school year.

On a positive note, our students and families have been outstanding in their partnership with our staff to ensure that the learning program has been implemented at its best.

This week we have been saddened to learn about the passing of Ms Jackie Kol’s mother and Father Kevin Dillon’s sister.  Fr Dillon is Parish Priest at St Simon’s, Rowville.  We extend our most heartfelt condolences to both of them, as well as to their families.

May eternal rest grant onto them dear Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.  May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

In the coming week, the College families will be invited to partake in a Family Virtual Trivia Evening. This will assist the NCCA and the College with some basic fundraising and, at the same time, give us all an opportunity to have some fun and win some prizes.

Nazareth College has an abundance of raffle tickets to sell – they are pledged to sell by 19 October 2020, when the raffle will be drawn.  All proceeds from the community raffle go directly to the College Community and will be spent on improving the learning environment for all our students and families.

Therefore, we invite ALL families to join us on 15 September 2020 for an hour of fun at our Virtual Trivia Night.  Sit down as a family and have some fun and, potentially, you could win some prizes or, even better, the CAR PRIZE.

All interested families will need to purchase a book of 10 raffle tickets for a total cost of $20.00.  Please register – all details are on the flyer.

Finally, I wish all the fathers a very Happy Fathers’ Day!  May you enjoy a special day with your loved ones, both at home and virtually.

God Bless.

Mr Sam Cosentino
