Stage of the Week

Stage 6 - Seniors

Farewell Year 12 - Class of 2020

It has been a very hectic term for our Senior teachers. We had HSC markers onsite to mark our HSC Drama Performances, Design & Technology students finishing off their projects for in-school marking, students and teachers completing their trial examinations and finishing off all the syllabi. We also elected our prefects for 2021. They are Annie K, Ashley L, Isabelle M, Micah P, Harrison T and Jonathan W.

Seniors had an enjoyable excursion out to Youthworks Waterslea on Thursday 24 September (see Harrison’s article below) and the Juniors (Years 7 - 10) went on the last day of term (we will have all these photos and articles next term).

By far the biggest event was when we farewelled our Year 12s at their Graduation Assembly last Friday evening. For the first time in our school's history, this event was live streamed so parents were able to watch the event at home. Our Class of 2020 students have now completed their 13 years of schooling in an unprecedented year. They have created many memories with all their teachers from Kindergarten to Year 12. We thank our parents/carers for your partnership during your child’s time at NCS. We pray that as they leave our school, they will remember that the Lord Jesus is with them. We praise God for their individuality and we wish them well.

I would also like to thank Mrs Simpson who has been filling in for Mr Harrison for the last 5 weeks. We trust that Mrs Simpson enjoyed her time with us and we hope to see you again as a casual teacher in the future.

We hope that you will have a lovely two weeks of school holidays and we look forward to seeing all the students next term.

Waterslea - a fantastic way to finish the year!

I have just come back from Waterslea Youthworks with Years 11 and 12. It was a really fun experience as we got to hang out together! We were all split into four groups; two groups of Year 11 and two groups of Year 12.

As part of the Year 11 group, I was able to do orienteering, abseiling, and water-related challenges. Abseiling was extremely difficult for me because leaning over backwards into an abyss is not the most comforting thing, but as I got further into it, I enjoyed it exponentially more.

The other people in our group also really enjoyed it, even if they were nervous to start. In our water-related games, we reunited with the other Year 11’s to compete against each other, in a competition that involved transporting a ping-pong ball into a bucket. The catch though was that we had to do it with 10 PVC pipes split in half, that were a meter long, while the bucket was 50 meters away. This was a really enjoyable challenge, especially since we were competing against another team.

After that, we 'mucked about' in the river. Before returning to school, we made an honour guard for the Year 12s. Overall, the day was fantastic and a great end to Year 11.

Not a waste of time!

On Monday afternoon (21/9) the Senior Earth and Environmental Science class visited the Shoalhaven Recycling and Waste Depot at West Nowra. During the tour, students observed how recyclable materials are sorted and prepared for transport to be recycled elsewhere. They also observed the landfill where all the material from our red bins is taken. The take-home message was 'reuse and recycle as much as you can!'

Design and Technology Showcase

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were unable to have our usual Stage 6 Showcase. Instead, sit back and enjoy the showcase video below which features our Stage 6 Design & Technology students' major design projects.
