What's Happening at OLA!

Pre-Primary

Last week, the Pre-Primary children attended the OLA Athletics Carnival. They did a fantastic job participating in the games that Mrs Stewart taught them during Sport in Term 3. The games included; Egg and Spoon Race, Sack Race, Ball in the Hoop and Circle Ball. The children also completed their very first running race. What a wonderful day it was!

Year 2

This week, in Year 2, we have been learning about the features of a persuasive text. We have been discussing reasons why we should wear our school uniform to school and coming up with reasons as to why we should not wear a school uniform to school.

In Maths, we have been exploring division and creating equal groups with counters, cubes and play dough. We have learnt that we need to make sure our groups are always equal when we are sharing. In our numeracy rotations, we have been working with Miss Croft and Miss Rotondo, playing numeracy games and using counters to solve simple division facts.

Year 4

Here we are in Week Two and we already have experienced some wonderful things.

Our first week of Dance saw the beginning of some great moves and quick thinking by us to learn the new and intricate steps for our dance. We will work towards learning more steps each week to perform a choreographed dance extravaganza at the end of the term which will include excitement, colour and catchy tunes. Dance has been interesting and lots of fun for us. What a fantastic way to exercise and develop coordination at the same time.

The OLA Sports Carnival was a fun day for us. The individual events saw us pushing ourselves to compete at our best and persevering to finish long distance races that challenged some of us to achieve more than expected.  We also did our best to cheer on the members of our faction. The day proved to be perfect, perfect weather, perfect timing, perfect spirit and attitude by everyone, perfect game. We would like to thank Mrs Stewart and all those involved for organising and coordinating the events and the hard work they put into the Sports Day to make it memorable for us.

Year 6

An exciting but scary beginning to Term 4 as we, the Year 6 class of 2018, realise we have only weeks until our graduation. Our term commenced with Frankie and Tahlia attending the Regional Spelling Bee, thank you for representing Year 6 and taking on that challenge.

Numeracy’s concept of transformation introduced us to terminology such as; flip, rotate and slide. We completed questions and an art activity using the rotational rule.

Last week, we were introduced to this term’s Dance program. We started learning our routine which will be incorporated during the OLA Christmas Concert later in the term. Those of us whom enjoy the stage were quick to find the front of the dance floor, to learn and show off our moves!

On Tuesday we had our Graduation photo taken and look forward to its presentation to us at the end of the year.
