Assistant Principals' Report

The last week of another ‘extraordinary’ term!
As Term 3 closes, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our families for supporting their children during this latest period of remote learning. It has been a time of challenge for many families, in particular for our Year 11 and 12 students coming on site and then returning to online classes, however we have found our students continue to have courage and a positive attitude. We have also had a number of families tell us how much they have enjoyed having the time to discover new things with their children and be a part of their learning.
As we close the term, we would like to acknowledge the hard work of our staff in providing learning that is achievable by students at home. Staff are looking forward to having Year 11 and 12 students here with us again to get into our last term of 2020, we all hope to have some time with them to prepare for VCE exams and complete VCAL certificates. As we know from this year, things change but we will keep families up to date about Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting in Term 4, as well as well-being supports, via COMPASS and teacher emails.
Interim Reports were released on Wednesday this week and Parent-Teacher Interviews have been scheduled for Wednesday 7th of October (Week 1 of Term 4) from 11am – 6pm. As we have restrictions in place, we will not be conducting these interviews on site, once again they will be via telephone call. These interviews provide a valuable opportunity to further strengthen the learning partnership between home and the College. We look forward to discussing your child’s progress from Term 3 and ways to support them in Term 4.
It’s a good time to reflect on some of the incredible work we have all done over the term:
- The Walk to Perth Hub Challenge using the Strava App has got us all together and determined to reach our virtual destination. Well done to all that participated in this activity and showed courage and aspiration to achieve our goal.
- Our annual Semester 1 Awards to acknowledge and celebrate all the commitment to learning and academic achievement of students particularly during remote learning, well done to all those students (All Award recipients are named in this edition).
- The wonderful teaching and learning taking place in our remote classes, the amazing Food Tech photos and incredible student's artwork and photography images.
Whilst also sitting here writing this article today, it marks the 20th anniversary of the Sydney Olympics, we really like the idea that we all should stand proud and award ourselves with a gold medal for all the achievements thus far, we do have a long way to go but we will get there!
Stay well,
Glenn Jenner and Rose Thomson
