Ulysses Community Report

Term 2 Overview

Ulysses first term together has officially begun! We’re especially excited to have Aaron and Emily coming in part-time to allow for more one on one time with a teacher. We have lots of things to look forward to this term including Cross Country this Friday which many of our community will be competing in.

Our grade 5 students have NAPLAN coming up and we’ve been working together on getting them ready so they feel confident they can do their best. In reading this term we will be looking at using effective comprehension strategies to better understand the text. During writing Ulysses has been investigating persuasive text types and how to make word choices that suit the purpose and audience of the text. In Maths we have begun to look at time and soon we will start working on addition and subtraction.

Our Inquiry focus this term is "Can we ever run out of energy?", some of our guiding questions through the unit will include:

·         How do you use energy every day?

·         What are some energy transformations you see every day?

·         How would life be different if energy could not transform?

Warm regards,

Bec, Emily and Aaron
