Achilles Community Report

Term 2 Overview

The Achilles community is excited for all the learning planned for Term 2!

We are excited to have Michelle Napolitano joining us as a new teacher and Jagruti Patel as Educational Support. Starting Monday 6th we also welcome Amber Vincent who will make up our third teacher to join our community. 

In Reading, we have continued working on comprehension strategies, such as reading to the end of every sentence to find word meaning in context. We are continuing to practice our persuasive writing and include reasons and examples to convince our readers of our opinions.

Our Mathematics focus is Time. We encourage you to talk to your child about time, using vocabulary such as o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. Challenge them to work out how much time left before bedtime, etc.

Our Inquiry focus this term is forces and movement. We are currently collecting any spare empty tissue boxes, plastic bottles and caps, egg cartons, milk bottle lids, pasta boxes, paper towel rolls, etc. If you have any of these items at home please encourage your child to bring them into the classroom as we will be using them to build our inquiry projects later in term.

Finally, please ensure all of your child's belongings are clearly labelled as many items have become lost and we are unable to return them if we don't know who they belong to. This includes jumpers, hats, shoes, school bags, food containers, lunchboxes, drink bottles and stationary. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any queries. We recommend making a note in your child’s diary for us to read or using Sentral’s Parent Portal.
