Early Languages Learning Australia (ELLA) Trial
The Foundation students have started the Early Languages Learning Australia (ELLA) trial program. Thanks to parents and caregivers for returning the permission forms and to the teachers Ms Hargreaves, Ms Gittus, Ms Foley and Ms Pritchard, our TSSP Technician, for their support in helping set up the new program and using it in classroom time.
The ELLA program is funded by the Australian Government to support language study in the early years of schooling and provides access to a digital, engaging play-based approach with interactive applications (apps). The students certainly appear to be enjoying it.
Level 1 students have been consolidating their learning of shapes and developing their confidence using these Japanese words, for example:
大きい まるです。Ookii maru desu. It is a big circle.
あおですAo desu. It is blue.
Level 2 students have started to learn to say a body part hurts, for example:
あたま が いたい です. Atama ga itai desu. My head hurts.
Level 3 and 4 students have continued learning about the events each month in Japan.
In Japan, June , 六月 is Summer and the rainy season.
Level 5 have been consolidating their learning of numbers, Japanese money and simple phrases for shopping.
Please encourage your children to keep practising their Japanese and enjoy the holidays.
