Performing Arts

The rehearsals for production are coming along nicely, with most classes at least half way through the process. Term 3 will be filled with lots of lunchtime rehearsals and extra practice as we get the THREE shows ready for the performance.
Tickets will go on sale in early August via TryBooking – there will be special discounts if you come to 2 or 3 shows.
Students who have been lucky enough to be selected to speak lines in the show, should already have their script. It is important that they learn these lines ASAP, especially the students in Senior School.
Just remember that this year we have a huge focus on Student Voice, hence, ALL students have been able to select the character that they wish to play in the production. During rehearsals they have drawn themselves as their character, as they see themselves in their costumes. This has given them great ownership over the entire look of the THREE shows. It does mean that EACH student will be responsible for their costume. The student will work closely with parents, friends, the classroom teacher and myself to create their character’s costume.
This may panic some parents, but don’t worry, we have your back if this is something that is beyond your reach. Your child’s teacher will be communicating with you early next term as to what you can do to help this process. Of course some costumes will be purchased or made by the school and loaned out to students as required. We will even be hiring some for the Senior students.
It’s a very exciting time and quite a busy one down in Performing Arts. Please, if you have any questions or concerns please follow the correct process and touch base with your child’s teacher first.
We are also still after the following:
- Queen of Hearts Costume to fit 7/8 and 9/10 year old
- Variety of CRAZY and colourful looking hats, shirts and wigs (that can be donated)
- Finally if you have any Alice in Wonderland items, storybooks, toys etc that you would be happy to let us borrow for the foyer display, we would greatly appreciate it!
