Library News

Our Staff and Parent library collection continues to grow, containing adult fiction, child development, raising children, relationships and more.

The collection is located on a bookshelf to the right of the loans desk.

There are a couple of options for borrowing as a parent:

  • Pop into the library personally or
  • Email the library library.email@mountcarmel.tas.edu.au with your book request and library staff will make sure the book gets delivered to your daughter or son to take home for you.  Parents are most welcome to borrow from the entire library collection.  We also welcome any recommendations or suggestions you may have that would augment our collection further.

Thank you to the Parents and Friends Association for funding the new furniture in the Library.

The students are enjoying somewhere to go and read a book or magazine in comfort or just catch up with friends.

Allergy Awareness - No nuts at school!

Our College has a number of students with serious allergies to a range of food products, most notably edible nuts (including peanuts, hazelnuts, cashews, and almonds).  Students also have allergies to other foods including shellfish, fish, milk, egg, wheat, sesame and soy.

Exposure to nuts and some other food products may cause these students to have an anaphylactic reaction. Anaphylaxis is a life threatening allergic reaction that affects the respiratory and/or cardiovascular system and other parts of the body such as the skin or gut.  An anaphylactic reaction always requires an emergency response.

Student must NOT bring nuts or food containing nuts to school, to excursions or to other College related events.  Food that contains nuts includes:

  • Peanut butter
  • Nutella
  • Biscuits or cakes with nuts in them
  • Muesli bars with nuts in them
  • Chocolates containing nuts e.g. Snickers, Picnic bars
  • Dried fruit and nut mixes

Further detailed information is available on the Anaphylaxis Australia website www.allergyfacts.org.au

Please also see the College’s Allergy and Anaphylaxis Policy on the College website

Our primary concern is keeping our students and wider College community safe and we thank you for your assistance with this.
