Plain English Speaking Award (PSEA)
Maddy Wicks of 10F represented Patterson River Secondary College in the third heat of this national speaking program in an online forum. Up against Year 12 students from around Victoria, Maddy presented a persuasive piece on gender roles in society. Her well prepared and rehearsed speech of six minutes demonstrated her ability to speak confidently, position an audience and use appropriate and relevant techniques. Her impromptu speech on ‘The Final Frontier’ also provided Maddy with an opportunity to display her oratory skills. Judges commended Maddy on her performance and are looking forward to hearing her present at next year’s Plain English Speaking Award.
