Holiday Reading

Over the holidays is a great time for students to relax with a good book.  We have received a number of fabulous new books in the last 2 weeks.  Students are encouraged to come and have a look and borrow a book for the holidays.

Don’t forget that all students also have access to online eBooks and audio-books through our school platform; SORA. Students can access SORA through the Oliver homepage

or the app can be downloaded onto a device

Even though we have had quite an unusual first half of the year, the Premier's Reading Challenge is still happening and the holidays are a fantastic time to do a bit of extra reading!  If your child/ren have forgotten their login details please don't hesitate to email me (bbremner@arm.catholic.edu.au) and I can send them through to you, likewise, if your child needs help entering the books I am more than happy to assist them before school or at lunchtime every day.

The Premier's Reading Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.  The Premier's Reading Challenge is open for all students from K - Year 9 and closes on Friday 28 August.  Years 3-9 only need to read 20 books.  Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students will complete the challenge with their classroom teacher through the books that are read to them on a daily basis.

For further information please go to https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html where you should be able to find the answers to any questions you may have.  The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge book lists open doors to a rich collection of children’s literature representing a range of books including fiction, non-fiction, picture books, poetry and drama, and include a wide variety of Australian authors.
