Careers Update
This term, the Pandemic has challenged us in many ways, and especially in the way we teach and learn. We have needed to step out of our comfort zones, which has been challenging, but I feel it has also offered us many opportunities for the development of new skills and personal growth.
This is a great time for students to continue to develop their self-awareness, revisit their long and short-term academic and personal goals and think about future studies, researching possible careers, as we approach Term 3 subject selections and pathways planning.
Things students should consider for their Pathway Planning:
- Who inspires me?
- What am I good at?
- What do I enjoy doing?
- What do I need to improve on?
- Where can I find the information?
- Who can help me?
- What am I interested in?
- Which subjects do I enjoy?
- What prerequisites are there for courses I have looked at?
- What are my options?
Support their research by:
- Visiting the BHHS Careers Website- especially the Calendar of Events where students can parents can view and register for upcoming expos/webinars. I encourage you to have a look.
- Completing of the BHHS Career Action Plan, in readiness for the subject selection interviews.
- Reading the weekly Careers newsletter published on Compass.
- Registering for Virtual Open Days.
- Researching careers using the interactive Careers Targets
Parents/Guardians can support the careers conversations. The linked Parent Guide is a great resource, that can be found under the PARENTS tab on the Box Hill Careers Website.
