A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

A highlight of my work as Principal is having students share their work with me. Students in the Infants are really making great strides in their ability to write; so recently I have had many students read sentences or stories they have written to me. Initially, students learn to write by telling the teacher what they want to write, the teacher scribes and the student copies the sentence. The teacher models how to write a sentence and the students experiment with simple words they can sound out to form a sentence. Our weekly 'Big Write' encourages students to write regularly and celebrate their successes. I hope you enjoy the few examples I have chosen to share with you below.

I also love visiting the classrooms to see the amazing learning happening across all Key Learning Areas. K/1/2 students have been learning how to follow a percussion score. This activity requires the students to concentrate, wait their turn and develop skills of keeping the beat and rhythm of a piece of music. Congratulations to  Mrs Bartholomew for being such an awesome teacher!

Please take the time to read our 'Focus on Learning' section this week as Mrs Wilson's class share what learning looks like in the 3/4 classroom...SO MANY wonderful experiences for the students!

Take care and be safe
