English - In English, we have been working on writing letters. We began by writing a letter to a close friend, family member, neighbour and/or an essential worker and checking in to see how they were coping. We gave our chosen recipient some information and stories about how we were going but also remembered to ask a nice amount of questions to them. We are all looking forward to a response.

Then we moved into using creative letter writing as a way of understanding the characters in our chosen book. We planned, drafted, edited, revised and published a letter from one character to another. This week we have been working on the reply. We have explored how to create detailed paragraphs using new and interesting vocabulary.

Maths - In Maths, we have been exploring so many different areas which have been great to do at home. We have done lots of work around measurement and have used our kitchens more than ever to measure our ingredients and make some yummy bakes and biscuits. We’ve converted between different units of measurement such as g, kg, mL, L, seconds, minutes, hours etc…

This week, we changed our focus to data. We gathered our own data at home and have been experimenting with drawing our own graphs by hand and creating graphs using technology.

Inquiry & Religion - This week has been very exciting in Inquiry! We finished off our last unit of inquiry around ‘Sharing the Planet’ and had an amazing ‘Couch Snorkelling’ Zoom lesson where we got to dress up in snorkel and masks, swimming goggles and caps, and we could also wear our bathers over the top of our regular clothes. It was really interesting to learn more about the animals and plants that call our Port Phillip Bay ‘home’.

We have also kept in touch with Sharron from the Eco Centre. She has been sending videos about how to study insects.

These are some examples from the little books we made:

We are so excited to start our next Unit of Inquiry which is called, ‘How we Express Ourselves’.  We are eager to learn about many different ways to express ourselves and we may even find a new hobby.
