Writing

Over the next couple of weeks the students are writing a narrative.

Today all the children picked their goals for their writing to help them to organise their thoughts and ideas to make their written piece sound and look better. They have been working on different topics and ideas with their writing.

An example of their goals with their learning Intention and success criteria have been captured as the picture shows below.

Maths

In Maths we are continuing to work on addition and subtraction with number. We also have been creating our own graphs from data collected in class. With the huge number of graphs and statistics that have been talked about in media in regards to the coronavirus, it is a great opportunity to use some of this as an example to explain to the students how to read and understand this information. For the youngers students, they are creating their own simple data sets to work with.

Inquiry

Today, in the afternoon in small groups, the students have been organising Bluearth activities where they have had to plan a warm up, main game and a cool down activity for the whole school. Part of this process is to give and receive feedback from the other students about how they could either modify or change their activities where required. This gives the students an opportunity to learn how to receive feedback without feeling criticised or that it is personal, and then how to give feedback in a constructive manner.
