Design & Technology Faculty
We are excited to enter a new year with fresh minds and fresh faces in Design and Technology. Students will be offered a range of projects in the Year 8 and 9 Design and Technology classes that will challenge them on a theoretical and practical level. Students will be engaged in all stages of the design process from exploring design concepts to fabricating prototypes. Students will be designing projects using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to assist them in bringing their ideas to life. This year we will be embedding digital technologies into our programs. Students will be creating a steady hand game that will require them to create an electrical circuit and program a MicroBit controller using block code.
This year in Food Technology students will be researching and creating recipes that encourage healthy eating. Students will learn how to interpret the different aspects of nutritional information that will allow them to make informed dietary choices. They will also have will also have the opportunity to engage in cooking projects that will allow them to display their creativity. Student will benefit from this course by engaging in team work as well as developing organisational skills and time management.

Visual Arts
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Nicholas Burgos has been accepted into Top Arts 2020, as well as being accepted to complete a degree at Swinburne University (Bachelor of Architecture). Nicholas will have his work presented at the NGV Federation Square in April. An outstanding result for both Nicholas and his VCE teacher Ms Marjolyn Willis.
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce two new member of the Visual Arts Team, Steve Emmett who has come with 15 years’ experience at Brighton College and Rimma Campos who has come across with 8 years teaching experience from Berwick College. Both staff members are very excited to start on a new venture at Mazenod College.
Mazenod students in Year 11/12 Studio Arts will have the privilege of attending the Top Arts exhibition on Monday 16th March and will be exposed to students work from across Victoria which have been selected for the prestigious exhibition. Students will have the opportunity to view previous folios and be inspired to being their creative journey back at school.
