Message From Our Principal

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

Congratulations children, parents and staff on another successful couple of weeks of remote learning. No doubt, it does have its challenges but nothing we have been unable to overcome and together Sacred Heart should be very proud of the way in which we are all managing the situation and ensuring our children continue to be happy, positive and learning. I have really appreciated the many words of support and kind gestures towards our staff. Thank you.

To ensure Remote Learning continues to be successful please remind your children of these important things:

  • Keep a daily routine and keep up to date with your work
  • Always do your best work – just like you would at school

And parents please remember you can contact your classroom teacher for further support if necessary. Classroom teachers will continue to make contact with parents over the coming weeks.

As our school management system is changing to ICON in the coming weeks, it was necessary to send families updated fee accounts last week.  I also sent a letter reminding families impacted financially by COVID-19 to contact me if necessary, to discuss possible fee assistance.  As with any difficult circumstance, we want to assist however possible for you to continue your child’s enrolment at Sacred Heart School.  Included in our fee structure are excursions and camps which may be cancelled. If this is the case these costs will be readjusted on family statements. I am still hoping that some may go ahead and don’t want to make the final decision until the Government provide more clarification around the coming school year.

Parent Access Portal [PAM] which families are already accessing will be now also be used for general permission and medical forms. CAREMONKEY will be phased out this term and parents will be asked to update their information on PAM. Further information will be coming soon.

While our students are accessing their learning remotely, we are still mandated to record student attendance. As you can imagine, this is not an easy process for teachers to record attendance for students not onsite. All offsite student attendance will be recorded daily. Children are marked present when the teachers hold their google meet, work has been submitted or students are engaging in learning. If teachers are not seeing any evidence of this, students will be marked absent. Parents can also mark their child as absent on the School App as usual and teachers will then know that your child is not participating in activities that day.

Unfortunately, our 2021 Open Day has been postponed until further notice which is disappointing as I love showing new families around our school. It is also an important role for our Year 6 Leaders to talk about why they think it is  such a good school to attend. As soon as we are able, we will open our school up to proudly show case the rich and engaging learning activities and excellent facilitates Sacred Heart offer. In the meantime, you are welcome to have a virtual tour. Thank you Matt Hooper, for creating this great snap shot of our school.

Please let friends know enrolments are now open and share your positive experiences of Sacred Heart with others. This is the best advertisement for our school and often the main reason new families want their child to attend. Our school is truly about people, community and quality education. Enrolment applications can be found on our Website or fell free to phone the school for any further information.

I’m sure all the children have a very relaxing, quiet day organised for their mums on Sunday.  I’d like to wish you all a very happy Mother’s Day. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over you and bless you always.
