Royal Melbourne Zoo Excursion

Last Friday, a group of Year 8 and 10 students studying Japanese had the opportunity to visit the Royal Melbourne Zoo. During the day students completed a range of tasks and activities related to their studies of animals and enjoyed the upgrades to the zoo. Students in Year 8 have been working on adjective use in describing animals and explaining animal diet, while those in Year 10 have been working on prepostions and directions; describing the place of enclosures and navigation.

Students found many animals which were kawaii (cute), fuwafuwa (fluffy), abunai (dangerous), and ookii (big). The lemurs were especially omoshiroi (interesting) as the new enclosure allows patrons to walk through and get up close and friendly to King Julian and his lemur family. The Language department is constantly seeking meaningful ways for students to explore and utilise their language skills in a range of contexts. The zoo provides us so many learning opportunities and we were all happy to visit on such a beautiful sunny day.

Victorian Archery Championship

Archer Jenman won the Victorian Archery Championship on the 23rd to 24th August, 2019.  The championships were held in Sale over the weekend.  Archer competed against 60 others at the event.

Archer took up Archery 3 years ago because he liked that it was similar to his name.  Archer said that the highlight of the event was being able to explore other clubs and would like to use his skills in the future to take up hunting. Well done Archer.
