It is important to stay active and healthy during these times. It is recommended that students participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. This could include jogging, running, skipping or practicing ball skills. We have included some links with additional activities and Mrs Travis' workouts from home. (Parent Tip - the workouts can be repeated and your child can choose and decide how many repetitions of an exercise they do) . Children and parents can actively get involved and exercise together.

Performing Arts - Thursday
GRADE 1- Week 6
Hi Grade 1s,
I loved seeing some of your storyboards from last week’s lesson, they looked fantastic!
For today’s lesson, we’re going to be using our bodies to show some of the scenes from the story of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. You won’t need to use any other equipment, just your body and your imagination.
You are going to do some ‘soundscape’ work: making sounds with your body and voice to show where you are or what’s happening, and to create an atmosphere. You’ll also be adding some movement to go with your sound.
Task 1: Create a scene showing Max’s bedroom turning into the forest. Use your body by starting small on the ground, then slowly unfurling and growing- just like one of the forest plants. Add some sounds to your moments.
Think: What sounds could you add to bring your forest to life?
Task 2: Create a scene showing Max travelling on his boat to the island. Use and move your body to make it look like you’re on the boat. Now add some appropriate sounds to your movements.
Think: What do you think you might hear if you were sailing to the island on Max’s boat?
Task 3: Become one of the Wild Things. Try to show your Wild Thing doing a few different things: show them partying/ swinging/ parading/ sleeping. Add some sounds to your character movement.
Think: How will you change your face, body, and movement to show the character of a Wild Thing? How will the Wild thing look, sound and move differently to you?
Task 4: Now try and put these 3 scenes together to make a performance sequence.
Try to focus on different dynamics (loud or soft) of sound for each of your ‘scenes’, as well as for the different activities that your Wild Thing will be doing.
If Mum or Dad are able to video record you doing your performance, I’d love to see what you have come up with (Don’t worry if no one is able to record you though, that’s fine: only if they can). Have fun!
