Casual Dress Day

On 19 November the Term 4 Casual Dress Day was held in support to raise funds for the two charities ‘Rare Voices’ and ‘Wear it Purple’. The SLC would like to thank everyone for their support of raising money for Casual Dress Day.

We are very proud to have raised $1424.95 to be split evenly between our two charities.  After missing our Term 3 Casual Dress Day, the SLC students were committed to supporting both charities who advocate for and support LGBTQIA+ youth and those suffering from rare conditions.

During the day multiple activities were run, such as the dodgeball in the stadium, guessing how many lollies in the jar and then the bake sale at lunchtime which was a huge success.

Congratulations to Year 7B who raised $36 and Year 8M who raised $34.  Congratulations also to Miss Paige Jessulat who was the winner of our Lolly Jar competition.

African Drumming Incursion

On Wednesday 24 November Music For Beginners Middle School students took part in an African drumming incursion. Bouba from Senegal taught students djembe skills and they also joined in with singing and dancing.  What a pleasure for Frankston High School students to have this cultural and artistic experience.

Share the Dignity Donation Drive

Share the Dignity works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of women and girls experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough. We distribute sanitary items to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia.

#ItsInTheBag is Share the Dignity's annual event where we encourage everyday Australians to put together bags filled with essential items, to donate to someone in need for Christmas. The bags are dropped off at Bunnings by generous Aussies, and are distributed to 3,000 Australian charities that have registered with Share the Dignity.  These charities then hand out the donated bags to people in need for Christmas.

Frankston High School participated in this donation drive this year and received many donations from students and staff.

On Friday 26 November students from SLC and Interact came together to create an astonishing 30 bags of the products.  We thank everyone who donated goods to put in the bags and to the students who helped pack the bags.

Australian Maths Competition

We held a celebration lunch for the students who achieved the top results for the Australian Maths Competition.  These students outperformed many other students in the whole of Australia.  It is a massive achievement, and we are very proud of their efforts.  We hope to see many students try their best in this competition again next year.

Year 12 International farewell lunch

On Wednesday 1 December we held the farewell lunch for our graduating Year 12 International students who have completed several years studying at our school.  Most will transition to a Melbourne University to continue their study.  The Year 11 students were invited to accept the handover from them as well as teachers, coordinators, Mrs Cathy Hogg and Ms Helen Wilson.  Most of these students have completed their VCE without seeing their families for over two years and appreciated the support of Frankston High School and their homestay families to help them achieve their goal.  We wish them all the best for their future study.
