Swimming

The Preps were lucky to be able to squeeze their remaining swimming lessons into Term 4. These swimming lessons are a great way to develop swimming skills and allow the Preps to independently navigate getting changed and making sure their personal items are carefully packed into their bags and brought back to school.

Of course, the highlight was the Water Safety lesson where the Preps wore shorts and t-shirts over the top of their bathers. What fun to hop into the pool wearing clothes! The Preppies also had fun experiencing what it's like to wear a life jacket. We were so proud of all the Preps, watching them try their best and having fun while learning these important skills.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day looked a little different for the Preps this year. Due to COVID restrictions, the Preps, Year 1s and Year 2s watched the Remembrance Day service via WebEx in the classroom.

We had preceded the service with some stories about what Remembrance Day is and the Preps showed immense respect while watching the service from their classrooms. We all stood for the minute silence and joined in singing the national anthem with the rest of the BNPS staff and students.

Later in the day we went for a walk to plant our poppies and to lay our flowers under the flagpole where the service was held earlier in the day. We also got to see some beautiful real poppies which Mr Bray had planted near the Year 2 classrooms.

It was wonderful that the Preps could be involved in such an important day and they were inspired by the Year 6s who held the wonderful service.

Inquiry

This week, the Preps considered all the important things that people do to ensure the safety of sea creatures and their habitats. We brainstormed all sorts of wonderful initiatives such as using reusable coffee cups, bags and straws, picking up rubbish at the beach and recycling plastic bottles. It is impressive and inspiring to see such little people understand how their actions are important and that small changes will help our planet and the amazing creatures which call it home.

e-Smart Week

This week Beaumaris North Primary School has been focusing on how we can be outstanding digital citizens. We first made sure that the Preps understood what it means to be a digital citizen. We discussed that there are no police making sure people do the right thing online, and it is up to us to keep ourselves safe in the online world.

We reiterated the importance of being ‘responsible’ and asking a grown up before downloading any new game, showing ‘integrity’ by not sharing any personal details, being ‘strong’ by setting a time limit on our screen time and showing ‘empathy’ by making sure we are always kind to others online. We are extremely proud of the knowledge the Preps have developed this year regarding being cyber safe through weeks such as e-Smart Week and our involvement in The Cyber Safety Project.

Adventures with Nursie

Yesterday Nurse Nicole played a BIG trick on Miss Evins! She stole us from our line up area on the way to Library and hid us outside the Treehouse.

Miss Evins looked EVERYWHERE for us, but we were super quiet, and she ended up running straight past us!!

When we got to the Library Miss Evins was fast asleep in the chair! We gave her the biggest surprise when we snuck in...
