Parents Association

Wimbledon White’s Parent Party

What an awesome night last Friday was as over 70 of us headed to Elsternwick Tennis club to connect and celebrate the end of a crazy year. A huge thanks to Michelle Thomas who (single handedly) organised and decorated the venue with a gorgeous tennis theme. The whites dress code went down a treat, and I think it’s fair to say that John Fenwick won best dressed for his ‘Bjon Borg’ impersonation. It really was a fabulous night and such a great reminder of the wonderful community we have. Thanks to all who came along!

Colour Run & Picture Products orders

The colour run prizes will hopefully arrive and be delivered to our children before the end of the year. If the do not arrive in time we will hand them out at the beginning of 2022. Our 2022 Colour Run will be held on Friday May 6.

The Picture Product plates have arrived and we are waiting on the arrival of the remaining items. Kat Rigby will be giving out what we have before the end of school. Thank you to all who ordered!

STJPA 2022

As Brendan said in his email today, we are still in need of people to put their hand up to run the exec and be involved in the STJPA in 2022.

“At this point in time we have not had anyone put their hand up fo the exec roles. In order for the many events (e.g. welcome disco, easter raffle, Mothers' Day lunch, Parent social function) to go ahead, we need volunteers to take up the reigns. I encourage both Mums and Dads to consider how they can support the school by fulfilling these exec roles. I would love to see more Dads involved with these roles if possible. Parents are welcome to join forces and share the roles, something which has worked tremendously well these past two years.”

If we do not have volunteers for these roles then events cannot go ahead. We want nothing more than for 2022 to bring back some normality to school life and to inject some of the joy that these added events bring to our community.

We are also in need of people to volunteer for some rep roles, as well as someone or a group of people to organise some events (see spreadsheet). Each of the events listed on the spreadsheet below has the previous co-ordinator listed who will support the new organisers. We would like to thank Denise Wong who will coordinate the Welcome Disco at the beginning fo 2022. Stay tuned next year for more info.

If we can get a lot of people doing a lot of little things, it can make a profound difference. Personally, I have seen the tremendous impact on our children, and the smiles on their faces when they see and witness their parents involved and actively participating in the life of the school through this committee. I am sure that Kate, Kat, Candice, Lee, Toby and the other PA members would agree wholeheartedly.

If anyone would like to consider being chair or communications for the exec, please contact myself. If you are able to support as a classroom rep or another event please contact Kate Korber via katekorber@gmail.com. We need to have these roles filled by the end of the end of the school year so we can start 2022 with a really positive outlook for our children and ourselves.

We thank those in our community who have already volunteered for some roles in 2022!

THANK YOU FROM KATE AND KAT

We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support over these last two years in our role as co-chairs. Through all of the challenges of lockdown, we have tried hard to continue to develop ideas that bring the community together, inject joy and celebrate our wonderful school. We are also passionate about wanting everyone to feel welcome and to be involved!

The support from Brendan, Carmelina and the staff has been tremendous, as well as the support of the parent community, especially Candice and Lee. We would also like to thank Toby for his role as Dad’s rep in 2021 and Paul Cheshire in 2020.  Thank you to all of the reps for everything you have done to support us and our team. Particularly through the struggle of lockdown.

We know that many hands make light work, and whilst we are all busy, the benefits of being involved and active members of our school community impact tremendously on our children.

The STJPA brings to life a part of the school that would otherwise remain untouched, and it is so important to continue to promote and encourage family involvement in support of the school.  Both Kat and Kate are willing to support the new team with a comprehensive handover and will be available to support any queries or questions.

We wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and new year.

2022 STJPA - WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS

We urgently need people to put their hands up to help support our school’s PA in 2022. Our beloved school events simply cannot happen without the support of our parent community. We currently do not have volunteers for:

  • Presidents (co chairs)
  • Communication (previously secretary)
  • Year level reps for grades 1,2,3,4,5 (teams are welcome)
  • Several events throughout the year as listed. In particular, we need to have a team volunteer to organise the welcome back disco in the first few weeks of school.

We have now added the names of those who ran the events previously so people know who to contact should they need some guidance. Thank you to those who have volunteered.

We would like to ensure that we have filled the roles by November 30 which is our final STJPA meeting for the year. In particular, the exec roles, the rep roles and the events for term 1. We urge you to please consider sharing any roles with friends. For the most part, the most important thing is to encourage everyone to get involved. All roles will be supported with a manual that we have created with guidelines and resources. We can only make things happen if people put their hands up, and the more hands, the lighter the load! We are so proud of all we have achieved as a team this year, and last, despite the incredible challenges of COVID. 2022 is about bringing the joy back to school!

For exec roles, please forward an expression of interest email to Brendan via  bflanagan@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au

For rep roles and event coordination, please fill your name in the spreadsheet linked below.
