What we’ve been up to…
We've had so much fun over the past two weeks as we’ve continued engaging with our after-school clubs! In the spirit of Christmas, our goal of focus centred around developing a sense of solidarity and compassion as we celebrate the season of advent.
Mini MasterChef’s Club
Developing their cultural awareness, the children have had an absolute blast as we’ve explored the Italian cuisine. Last week, the children were delighted and amazed as they learned how to make home-made gnocchi. Pairing this with Lidia’s delicious tomato and basil sauce, the children voted our gnocchi dish 4 out of 5 stars!
Getting into the festive spirit, the children have thoroughly enjoyed baking some delicious Christmas treats. Developing their awareness of sequencing as they followed the steps of a given recipe, it has been fabulous to see the children work as a team and delegate roles. So far, we’ve made some scrumptious Christmas cookies and stained-glass window biscuits!
Fast and Furious Club
Soaking up some glorious Spring weather, the children have continued to build upon their locomotor skills as we’ve engaged with a range of ball sports including soccer and football. Battling it out with Laura in a round of jack in the pack, Charlie arose victorious as the OSHC AFL champion!
Busy Bees Crafting Corner
In the crafting corner, our busy bees have absolutely loved celebrating the festive season as we’ve learnt how to create Santa in our drawing workshop, made Christmas ornaments had our very own Secret Santa. It was fabulous to see the children engaging compassionately in our Secret Santa, thoughtfully crafting gifts for their special person!
End of Year Christmas Party!
Can you believe we are already at the end of the year? On Tuesday the 14th of December, OSHClub will hold our annual end of year party! We can’t wait to celebrate the festive season as well as the amazing memories we’ve created at OSHC this year. We look forward to welcoming your children as we play some fun Christmas games and share some special Christmas treats and surprises!
In addition, to congratulate the children for reaching an amazing 100 Dojo points this year, we will have an extra special afternoon snack available. What an amazing effort and a reflection of each child’s hard work!

School Holidays at St Joseph’s!
The school holidays are fast approaching and it’s time to start thinking about all the fun we will be getting up to at OSHClub! As St James OSHClub does not run a program over the school holidays, the nearest vacation care program is located at St Joseph’s Primary School in Elsternwick. We have an amazing team of staff, including our St James educators Laura and Kaitlyn, who will be working St Joseph’s these holidays. We have planned some incredible experiences for your children. Some highlights include a trip to the movies, MCG and St Kilda FC!
The St Joseph’s Elsternwick program will run from Thursday the 16th of December until Friday the 28th of January. If you’d like to learn more about this program, please see the attached program flyer or click here. Bookings for the upcoming vacation care program can be made online through your Kidsoft account.
