Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Can you believe we only have 3 more weeks left in the school year??!!

Plenty of things to look forward to with Prep and whole school transitions occurring, Year 6 Graduation and Virtual Arts Fest to name a few.

Please be aware that next week we will return to a 'normal' finish time for all students of 3.10 p.m. Our gates will open from 3 p.m. and we are pleased to finally welcome families back into Central Plaza for pick up time. Be sure to make arrangements with your child/ren for where to meet and if you would like to continue to meet at the gate or another identified pick up point you are of course welcome to do this.

We ask that parents and carers do not enter Learning Community buildings and to remain away from windows and exit/entry doors to avoid possible disruption to end of day learning and pack up.

Our morning process will remain the same until the end of year with students being dropped off at the school gate from 8.40 a.m.

Road Safety Reminder

Just a quick reminder about being safe out on our roads around the school at pick up and drop off times.

We understand that it is a busy time of year and everyone is in a hurry but we need to be mindful of students crossing the road and making sure your car is parked appropriately before your child/ren get out of the car.

Please also make sure that all children are using one of the student crossings when coming to and leaving school each day if they need to cross the road.

Year 11 VCAL Students Last Day of School

The end of the school year has snuck up a little for the VCAL students. They finished today having made a number of wonderful achievements throughout the year including running an Easter stall, Staff lunches and the sustainability project making beeswax wraps and bird houses. This term in particular has been really busy. Students have made the most of the circumstances which were beyond our control with COVID and lock downs and returned to school eager to be productive in their remaining weeks. This has meant completing as many outcomes as possible right up until the final day today.

They got stuck into hands-on learning through a car wash business called Soapy Bubbles Car Wash.  Students have worked hard behind the scenes which allowed them to develop their organisation, planning, writing for a purpose, money maths and employability skills. Students learned about scheduling, budgeting, advertising, and being safe. They improved in their ability to work as a team to complete the outside washing and inside vacuuming in a thorough yet efficient way. They have also become more resilient and able to remain committed throughout the sessions. Clients were incredibly impressed with the sparkly and clean condition of their cars after the student's hard work.

This term VCAL students have also completed or updated their resumes. They have written cover letters and participated in mock job interviews to practice for the real world. Some students have secured part time work in the lead up to Christmas holidays which is a fantastic first step.

Congratulations to the VCAL students on all their achievements this year as our very first VCAL class. We wish the handful of graduating students all the best as they continue their pathway into paid employment, Tafe courses and engage with the School Leavers Employment Support programs available to many. We are looking forward to hearing about your success in this next step into adulthood.
