Senior School

It used to be said that those who received a good education would finish their schooling with a sound grasp of the Three Rs… Reading, Writing and ‘Rithmatic. At BMGS, however, we are committed to providing a great education, and must logically make sure first and foremost that our students have a strong academic education, while providing them with a much broader curriculum.

As such, it has been a pleasure to spend many hours with our Year 10 students in their Year 10 Preparation Program. This program aims to help our Year 10 students prepare themselves for the rigours of the Senior Years, with academic sessions including Study Skills, Examination and Note-Taking Skills, and wellbeing seminars including Goal-Setting, Group-Building and Initiative, Mental Health, Spiritual Wellbeing and Workplace Skills. In order to allow our Year 10 students more time for practical, face-to-face learning after the return to School, we have abbreviated our Year 10 Program this year and distilled the content presented to a highly-concentrated two-week format. I will look forward to seeing our Year 10s make use of this new learning throughout the next two years!

It has also been lovely to see our students re-engage in Saturday Sport in this past week. Watching from the sidelines and chatting with students on the benches, their joy at once again being able to join their teams in competition with students from other schools was obvious. Thanks to Mrs. Harris and the MICs for their hard work in making these games happen in a COVID-safe manner. In this wet season, our cricketers were even able to enjoy some limited sunshine to eat their BBQ lunch.

On a final, pragmatic note, the Lost Property Cupboard in the Senior School is overflowing with blazers, sports-jackets, drink bottles and myriad other gear that parents have lovingly purchased for their children. Much of the contents of the Lost Property Cupboard has no student names attached. Please be aware that at the conclusion of Friday, 10th December (Week 10) all those items capable of being re-sold in the Uniform Shop will be donated to be resold. Those items not capable of being re-sold will be donated to charity or appropriately discarded. Parents are invited to send their children to check for any missing items in coming days.
